Workshops: High Residue Farming under Irrigation

The Basics

“High residue farming” is an umbrella term referring to cropping systems where the volume of the soil that is tilled is reduced in order to maintain residue cover of the soil. Crop residue covering the soil provides the many benefits of high residue farming:

  • Save time and money
  • Save on fuel and equipment costs
  • Decreased water use and pumping costs
  • More double cropping options
  • Build soil health

Direct seeding (also called no-till) strip-till, and vertical tillage are all variations of high residue farming.
These workshops will cover the basics of implementing these systems in the irrigated Columbia Basin.

We hope you will join us.
